2014 Elwood Primary Art Show

On Thursday night, Elwood Primary hosted its biennial art show!!! It was such a great night and I was overwhelmed and grateful for the amount of students and families who came to celebrate the visual arts program. The atmosphere was amazing as kids proudly showed off their art pieces to their family and friends. It made me feel very lucky to teach at a school that has such a wonderful and supportive community of parents and staff.  There were loads of conversations, laughs and smiles from everyone and I think that everyone had a great time. Thank you everyone who helped make this years Art Show a spectacular event.

I would like to say a special thank you to Bec Long for setting up a “safari” themed art activity table. I don’t think she stopped all night, and it was such a big hit with the kids.

YAY for the Visual Arts Program at Elwood!

Year 4 Sculptures

Year 4s have finished their sculptures! Phewfff, and just in time for the art show.

These little creations took roughly 8 weeks to create, giving students time to plan and create their sculptures. Year 4s used recycled materials, plaster, paint and small embellishments. We drew our inspiration from pop art, surrealism and cubism.

Prep Collages

An oldie, but a goodie!

Inspired by the wonderful Eric Carle, preps created some lovely textured collages using their very own hand painted paper. Of course, we shared our paper, so we could make colourful collages.

They did a wonderful job of cutting their shapes our carefully, didn't they?!
