Year 5 and 6 Pieces

Year 5s and 6s are still working hard on their projects.

This week I found a broken pencil with hot glue on it stashed under a table... Looks like my students will need a refresher on how to treat the materials in the Art Room.

Year 3 Monoprints

This term, year 3s are focusing on printing. We are starting slowly and they were introduced to printing by creating a monoprint. Students inked up their plastic sheet and placed it on lithograph paper. They flipped over their paper and drew their images onto the back of their paper. There was plenty of opportunity for learning as students had to make sure that they used the appropriate amount of ink as well as making sure their plastic sheet did not stick to their paper to create successful prints. Some clever students learned that if they wanted to write a word on their paper they need to write the letters and word backwards.

Year 3 Perspective

For the final piece of the term, students were ask to take all the skills they learned and use them to create one piece of art. During the term students learned about how to create depth and distance in their art and used soft pastels, ink, and watercolour pencils/crayons.

Students planned their piece on a small piece of paper and then used A3 paper for their final piece. Minecraft, ballet, and trees were a common theme in students art.

Recycled Clouds

Preps learned about using recycled goods and found objects to create art. I saw this activity on another blog and fell in love with the idea.

Day 1: We read the book "A Forest" and talked about caring for the earth and how important it is to recycle. Students used a pencil to draw a cloud on a recycled piece of cardboard. Then they chose objects and glued them onto their cloud using PVA.

Day 2: After hours of cutting out the clouds, preps used cool coloured acrylic to paint their cloud. Preps did a fantastic job of making sure all the objects on their cloud were covered with paint. Early finishers created rain drops for their clouds.

Lovely!
