Small Happenings in the Art Room

3 pieces to raise money for our school. They will be bid for on our biennial Trivia Night fundraiser.

Giant Pencil created by a Year 6 student!
Fewfff, the Year 6 Art Leaders and I finally finished the mosaic for the Kitchen Garden program. The sign will go over the kitchen door.  Thank you Rita for all your expertise with mosaics!

I saw a variation of this on Pinterest and thought it would make a great addition to the Art Room

I took a class that I normally do not teach for an hour and read "It's Not a Box". Preps used their imagination to turn their "boxes" into something else. Gorgeous!

Prep Collage Animals

Preps have been learning about creating collages this term. They used small pieces of paper to create their collaged animals. Preps worked really hard at putting the pieces together "like a puzzle" so the background paper did not show through!

We busted out the sparkly paper to add detail to our animals and decorated our background using shiny textas!

Year 3 Collagraph Printing

This term, Year 3s are exploring print making. For our first art piece, students learning about collagraph printing (sometimes spelled collograph). In essence, a collagraph is a collage that is ink and printed.

Students took 2 classes to plan and create their collage. Year 3s used thick card stock and pva glue to build their collages.  They spent one class creating their two prints using white ink and black paper.

I am also teaching them to mount their art work, so they spent half a class mounting their art on cover paper using ruler lines and careful cutting!

Year 5 and 6 Pieces

Prep Textured Collage

Preps were inspired by "Animals, Animals" by Eric Carle. We created our textured paper by mixing acrylic paint together.
