In celebration of upcoming Asian Week, Year 3s have created stunning Mandalas. This year, Year 3s are studying India. Mandalas are often found in India and usually consist of a complex abstract design. Mandala means "circle"
I described Mandalas to students as a calming piece of art that is unique to oneself where shapes and lines grow out from a centre point. Students had the freedom to choose any shaped and lines that came to their head. Students used fine liners and watercolour pencils to create these special pieces of art.
I originally planned 2 lessons for this piece, but students were so thoughtful in creating their pieces that it ended up stretching into 3 lessons.
Gorgeous!
